COULD I BE PREGNANT?

So you think you might be pregnant? Some women seem to ‘just know’ they are pregnant within days of conception, others are taken completely by surprise when they miss a period. If you’re in tune with changes in your body, you may pick up on your impending motherhood a couple of weeks before that little blue line appears on the pregnancy test. These are the symptoms to keep an eye out for:

Frequent trips to the toilet

Once your body starts producing the hormone hCG, you’ll find yourself urinating more often.

Tired all the time

Although not a symptom on its own, constant fatigue is a sign your body is working overtime on its new project.

Tender breasts

You can thank the hormone surge for this one as well. When you’re pregnant your breasts often become swollen and tender (similar to the way they feel for some women shortly before their period arrives). You may also notice the skin around your nipples gets darker.

Nausea

This often doesn’t hit until the six week mark, but some feel nauseated within a few days of conception. Others notice a metallic taste in their mouths and go off the smell and taste of certain foods.

Missed period

If your cycle is usually pretty regular, a missed period is the surest sign of pregnancy. Time to buy a pregnancy test.
